Since April 2025 the selection starts with the voorselectie: a first test day of roughly three hours at the Aviation Medical Center in Amsterdam. It is a compact sample of everything that follows — personality, intellectual capacity and sensorimotor capacity — and it filters the applicant pool before the full test phases, which makes it the single most cost-effective stage to prepare for.
What it contains
Personality: three questionnaires measuring traits relevant to pilot training and an airline career.
Intellectual capacity: a technical insight test and a planning task.
Sensorimotor capacity: a multi-stimuli reaction test and a hand-eye-foot coordination test.
How to prepare
Every module in this phase has a direct counterpart on the practice page: Technical Reasoning and the Planning Test for the intellectual part, the Determination Test and Hand-Eye-Foot Coordination for the sensorimotor part, and the Big Five test to understand your personality profile before someone else measures it. Train these until your scores plateau — and arrive rested, because three hours of testing punishes a bad night's sleep more than a missed practice session.
