ENAC Word Boxes
IntellectualPSY0Six empty boxes sit round the screen, and words appear one at a time in the middle. Each box takes one field of words, like fruit or weather, but nothing tells you which. Click the box each word belongs in. The first word of a field can go in any empty box, and a wrong box sends the word back for later. Each field's own name shows up after its four other words. The exam format is 5 boards of 30 words, with 2.5 seconds a word.
Overview
The words are easy. The errors come from the blind start and the clock. If you can't place a word, put it in an empty box. Either it opens its field there, or the ✗ tells you its field already has a box. Go with the everyday meaning of every word, since no word fits two fields. A box holding four words but not its field's name is waiting for that name. On the real test, the words are everyday French ones.
Assessments
Part of the Air France Cadets selection at ENAC (PSY0) battery as “Boîtes à mots”.
Six empty boxes round the screen and words arriving one at a time in the middle, each to be clicked into the box it belongs with. No box carries a label: what it is for exists only as the words already in it, so the first word of a group is a commitment made blind. A wrong box is refused on the spot and the word comes back later, and a board ends when every box is full. Four or five boards depending on the sitting, and a box will often end with the word that names the whole group rather than another member of it. The words themselves are ordinary; the pace is the gate, and a word left to run out costs what a word in the wrong box costs.
Battery mappings are based on public information and may change.
Six boxes, no names
- Each box takes one field of five words, like fruit or weather. Nothing tells you which.
- The first word of a field can go in any empty box. From then on that box belongs to its field.
- A wrong box shows ✗, and the word comes back later. The board ends when every box is full.
- The fifth word of each field is the field’s own name.
One board
Click the box each word belongs in. There’s no clock here.
Game Phases
Read It Plainly
Take the everyday meaning of the word. No word fits two fields, so the obvious box is the right one.
Match the Box
Ask yourself which box already holds words that go with this one. Don't try to name a field for each word on its own.
Open a Field
A word that matches no box goes in an empty one. If it's refused, its field already has a box somewhere.
Keep Moving
You get 2.5 seconds a word, so click as soon as you see the box. Letting a word run out is an error too.
