Brussels Airlines is the home carrier of Belgium and a member of the Lufthansa Group and Star Alliance, operating from its hub at Brussels Airport. It flies Airbus A320-family aircraft across Europe alongside a long-haul A330 fleet with a particular strength in sub-Saharan Africa, a network inherited from its Sabena heritage.

Flying for Brussels Airlines

The airline's main pathway for new pilots is an MPL cadet programme run with Skywings Flight Training in Antwerp, which takes candidates from zero hours to the right-hand seat of a Brussels Airlines A320; intakes are announced periodically. Experienced direct-entry pilots are recruited when fleet and crew planning require, particularly for the A320 and A330 fleets.

Cadet selection is run with Skywings and is built around the COMPASS pilot aptitude test, assessing hand-eye coordination, mental arithmetic, memory and multitasking, followed by psychological evaluation and interviews with the airline. Competition for places is strong, making early practice of aptitude and cognitive assessments a sensible investment.
