AIS Flight Academy is a Dutch flight school based at Lelystad Airport in the Netherlands, operating under EASA regulation as part of the AIS group alongside its affiliated regional carrier, AIS Airlines. Training airline pilots from Lelystad for well over a decade, it is a compact academy whose identity is closely tied to having a working airline within the same organisation.

Training at AIS Flight Academy

The academy trains ab-initio students through integrated and modular routes to a frozen ATPL, with ground school and flying both delivered at its Lelystad base. Its most distinctive feature is the link to AIS Airlines' Jetstream 32 operation, through which selected graduates have been able to gain first-officer line experience on a real turboprop airliner; with the affiliated airline now running a small fleet, that pathway depends on operational capacity and is best treated as an opportunity rather than a guarantee.

Selection is taken seriously before training begins: candidates sit the COMPASS aptitude test as part of the academy's admissions process, alongside an interview and the EASA Class 1 medical. COMPASS-style batteries measure hand-eye coordination, mental arithmetic, memory and multitasking under time pressure, which are exactly the skills that respond well to practice, so candidates who train on comparable pilot aptitude exercises beforehand arrive at selection with a measurable advantage.
