Sevenair Academy is one of the largest flight schools in Europe, operating a fleet of around 40 aircraft from its main campus at Ponte de Sor Airport in central Portugal, with a second, theory-focused campus at Cascais near Lisbon. Built on decades of Portuguese aviation heritage and EASA-approved, it joined the Airbus Flight Academy network in November 2025, a mark of its standing among the continent's leading training organisations.
Training at Sevenair Academy
Sevenair trains ab-initio students on integrated and modular ATPL routes, with Ponte de Sor offering a dedicated ILS-equipped 1,800-metre runway that lets cadets fly airline-style procedures from early in training. Its flagship airline link is the Luxair-sponsored cadet programme, launched in 2024 and recruiting again for 2026 intakes, which carries selected candidates through training toward the Luxembourg carrier, while Airbus Flight Academy membership ties the school into a Europe-wide pipeline of airline-oriented training standards.
Cadet selection is a serious filter: Luxair-sponsored applicants face airline-run screening on top of the academy's own admission checks, which include computer-based aptitude and psychometric testing, interviews and an EASA Class 1 medical. With sponsored places among the most contested in southern Europe, candidates who have rehearsed the reasoning, memory and hand-eye tasks these assessments rely on stand a far better chance of converting an application into a cockpit seat.
