Riyadh Air is Saudi Arabia's new national carrier, backed by the Public Investment Fund and headquartered in Riyadh. It carried its first passengers in late 2025 and opened scheduled services in mid-2026, building a long-haul network around a Boeing 787-9 fleet with Airbus A321neo-family aircraft on order. Positioned as a digital-first, premium full-service airline, it sits outside the three global alliances and is central to the kingdom's ambitions to make Riyadh a major aviation hub.

Flying for Riyadh Air

As a rapidly growing start-up carrier, Riyadh Air is recruiting experienced direct-entry pilots for its 787 fleet through a global campaign, with roadshows and assessment events held across several continents as it scales towards roughly 250 pilots during 2026. Recruitment is currently focused on rated and experienced jet pilots rather than cadets, and candidates apply directly through the airline's official careers portal.

Selection is multi-stage and thorough, combining an initial online screening, Aon (cut-e) online aptitude and psychometric testing, technical and HR interviews, an English language assessment and a simulator evaluation. The computer-based stages probe spatial orientation, monitoring and multi-tasking under time pressure — precisely the abilities that respond well to structured practice, which is why rehearsing pilot aptitude assessments beforehand pays off at airlines like this.
