Prepare for Qatar Airways
No Qatar Airways course yet
Most operators screen with the same aptitude tests, so a general assessment course still covers the bulk of the selection.
Qatar Airways flies from Hamad International in Doha across a young, almost entirely widebody fleet of Airbus A350s and A330s and Boeing 777s and 787s, with A320-family jets on regional routes and 777-9s on order. State-owned and a member of oneworld since 2013, it built a global connecting network from a country with a population smaller than most of the cities it serves, and it holds significant equity stakes in airlines across four continents. Its cargo division is one of the largest in the world.
Flying for Qatar Airways
Most of Qatar Airways' flight deck is recruited through direct entry, with First Officer and Captain streams that expect substantial jet hours on comparable types. The Cadet Pilot Training Programme is a different thing altogether: it sits within the airline's nationalisation effort and is aimed at Qataris and those born or resident in Qatar, taking selected candidates through no more than eighteen months of training to a Multi-Crew Pilot Licence. Entry requires a science-stream secondary education covering mathematics and physics, IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no component below 6.0 attained in the last two years, a QCAA Class 1 medical and police clearance. Applicants without that Qatari connection realistically look at the direct-entry route instead.
Selection begins with eligibility screening on age, qualifications and medical fitness, then moves to aptitude testing that the airline describes as assessing ability, awareness, problem-solving and multitasking, before simulator assessment and competency-based interviews. The airline names no test provider on its own pages. What is consistent across both routes is that a computer-based battery measuring the same handful of cognitive skills stands between an applicant and the interview, and that it is sat cold unless a candidate has deliberately trained for it.
