Leading Edge Aviation is a British flight training academy based at London Oxford Airport in Kidlington, founded in 2018 and holding dual UK CAA and EASA approvals so that cadets can train towards both licences. In under a decade it has grown into one of the UK's most prominent airline pilot academies, with a glass-cockpit Diamond fleet, A320 simulators and a purpose-built fair-weather flying campus in southern Spain.
Training at Leading Edge Aviation
The academy delivers integrated ATPL training through its LEAP programme in UK and EU variants, alongside modular routes and APS MCC courses, with the foundation flying phase flown from its own campus at Alhama de Murcia in Spain before cadets return to Oxford. Its airline links are among the strongest in the UK: it was announced as the launch ATO for Jet2.com's fully funded Jet2FlightPath programme and is taking a further intake of cadets in the relaunched 2026 cycle, and it is also one of four approved training organisations on the self-funded pathway of the British Airways Speedbird Pilot Academy for 2026, through which successful cadets can secure a conditional offer of employment with BA.
Admission runs through a full-day Skills Assessment at Oxford, combining computer-based aptitude tests — widely reported by assessment-preparation providers to be Aon's cut-e battery — with numerical and verbal reasoning, a group exercise and a competency interview. With funded places such as Jet2FlightPath attracting many thousands of applicants per intake, thorough rehearsal of pilot aptitude and psychometric testing is one of the most effective ways for candidates to stand out.
