Prepare for KLM
One course prepares you for the KLM selection process.
KLM screens with Schuhfried at the cadet selection (BCO and SMO phases).
KLM publishes its own phase names — voorselectie, BCO, SMO and KCO — rather than a test brand; the aptitude and sensorimotor phases are administered by the Aviation Medical Center in Amsterdam.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the flag carrier of the Netherlands and, founded in 1919, the world's oldest airline still operating under its original name. Its hub at Amsterdam Schiphol is one of Europe's principal transfer airports, feeding a long-haul network flown by Boeing 777s and 787 Dreamliners while the short-haul 737 fleet is progressively replaced by Airbus A321neos and KLM Cityhopper works the regional routes with Embraer jets. Part of the Air France-KLM group since 2004 and a member of SkyTeam, it has kept a distinct Dutch operating culture inside a Franco-Dutch holding structure.
Flying for KLM
KLM's ab-initio route runs through KLM Flight Academy at Groningen Airport Eelde, a wholly owned subsidiary that trains a deliberately small intake each year on Diamond aircraft and feeds graduates toward a first officer seat at KLM or KLM Cityhopper. The integrated ATPL costs in the region of €110,000, with loan assistance available, and the academy's tie to the airline means the syllabus is shaped around KLM's own standards rather than a generic EASA course. The airline also recruits experienced direct-entry pilots when fleet plans require it.
Selection is the hard part, and it happens before training rather than after. KLM publishes its own phase names — voorselectie, BCO, SMO and KCO — instead of a test brand, and the first phases are administered by the Aviation Medical Center in Amsterdam across several non-consecutive days, each one a cut. BCO is the computer-based capacity stage, SMO the sensorimotor assessment, and KCO the competency round of group exercises and interviews. Because the sensorimotor and capacity phases test skills that are trainable and are sat cold by most applicants, disciplined preparation ahead of the first phase is what separates candidates more than anything else in the process.
