Prepare for Jazz Aviation

One course prepares you for the Jazz Aviation selection process.

Jazz Aviation screens with ADAPT at the cadet selection.

Jazz Aviation screens with Thomas International at the direct-entry screening.

The ADAPT battery applies to the CAE-run Jazz Approach cadet pathway; experienced-pilot applicants instead sit a Thomas assessment alongside the interview and simulator evaluation.

Provider mappings are based on public information and may change. Last checked September 2026.

Jazz Aviation is Canada's largest regional airline, operating as Air Canada Express under contract to Air Canada with a fleet of De Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprops and Bombardier CRJ-900 regional jets. Owned by Chorus Aviation and headquartered in Halifax, it flies the feeder network that connects smaller Canadian communities to Air Canada's hubs.

Flying for Jazz Aviation

Jazz Approach is the airline's ab-initio cadet route, run with CAE and Cygnet Aviation Academy and open to candidates with no previous flight experience who hold a post-secondary degree or can demonstrate equivalent work experience. Cadets complete an integrated ATPL over 18 months at Cygnet in Kingston, Ontario, earning a private licence then a commercial licence with instrument and multi-engine ratings, before a transition programme and CRJ type training at CAE's Mississauga centre. Successful applicants receive a conditional letter of employment from Jazz contingent on completing the programme, with mentorship from Jazz pilots throughout and a flow-through opportunity to Air Canada beyond.

Both training partners are in this directory, which makes the pathway unusually easy to trace end to end. Selection is described as extensive and happens before the conditional offer is issued — aptitude and psychometric testing, interviews and a medical — so the assessment stage decides who gets a funded-place letter rather than merely who gets an interview.
