Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) is one of Australia's longest-established airline pilot academies, based at Parafield Airport in Adelaide, South Australia, and operating since the early 1980s. With around four decades of experience training pilots to Australian standards, it works with a number of domestic and international airlines and has become a trusted name in airline cadet training across the Asia-Pacific region.

Training at Flight Training Adelaide

FTA is best known for its airline cadet programmes, which take selected candidates from the start of training through to a commercial pilot licence with multi-engine instrument rating and, in some pathways, onward type-rating training. It runs dedicated cadet schemes for airline partners, including a programme to source trainee first officers for IndiGo, and was chosen as the training provider behind the Qantas Group Pilot Academy, reflecting its standing in the industry.

Cadet entry centres on a structured selection process, with airline-sponsored candidates assessed before they begin and direct applicants meeting age, medical and program prerequisites such as a CASA Class 1 medical. Because so many places lead toward a specific airline, the selection stage carries real weight, making strong preparation for pilot aptitude and airline assessments an important part of earning a cadet position and the airline career that follows.
