Prepare for EVA Air

Candidate accounts consistently point to Schuhfried at EVA Air's cadet selection (psychological aptitude assessment).

EVA Air publishes nothing about it, so treat it as the likely battery rather than a settled fact.

In Taiwan the Vienna Test System is administered centrally by the Civil Aviation Administration's Aviation Medical Center rather than by the airline, and the score is retrieved from there; EVA Air also runs its own written exam, full-motion simulator assessment and interviews around it.

No EVA Air-specific course yet

EVA Air's selection is reported to use Schuhfried; that course is the closest match we have.

EVA Air is Taiwan's second-largest airline and a member of Star Alliance, operating from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport with a fleet of Boeing 777s and 787s, Airbus A330s and A321s alongside a substantial freighter operation. Part of the Evergreen shipping group, it flies across Asia to North America and Europe and has built a strong service reputation — including the Hello Kitty liveries it is widely recognised for.

Flying for EVA Air

EVA recruits along two distinct routes. Cadets are trained through EVA Flight Training Academy, the airline's own school at Sacramento Mather in California, which exists primarily to feed its flight decks; instructor pilots who complete a minimum three-year contract there with at least 1,500 hours become eligible for hire as EVA First Officers. Separately, the airline is one of the more consistent recruiters of experienced foreign pilots in Asia, asking for a valid ICAO, JAA or FAA ATPL with a first-class medical, an ICAO English level 4 certificate, and five years of aviation employment references — reduced to two for candidates holding a bachelor's degree.

Selection for either route centres on an interview and a simulator assessment, with psychometric testing alongside. The simulator check rewards hand-flying discipline and clear crew communication, while the written and computer-based stages test the reasoning and spatial skills common to airline screening worldwide, so both halves reward deliberate practice.
