Prepare for Ethiopian Airlines
No Ethiopian Airlines course yet
Most operators screen with the same aptitude tests, so a general assessment course still covers the bulk of the selection.
Ethiopian Airlines is the flag carrier of Ethiopia and Africa's largest airline, flying a modern fleet of Boeing 787s, Airbus A350s, Boeing 777s and 737s from its hub at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. A Star Alliance member since 2011, it connects well over a hundred destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas. The airline is also recognised as one of the continent's leading aviation training providers through its academy in Addis Ababa.
Flying for Ethiopian Airlines
Ethiopian Airlines develops most of its pilots from the ground up through Ethiopian Aviation University, the training arm formerly known as the Ethiopian Aviation Academy and one of the largest aviation training centres in Africa. Admission to the trainee pilot programme is gated by a competitive entrance process, and the airline also recruits experienced pilots for its widebody and narrowbody fleets depending on demand.
Selection for trainee pilots begins with entrance examinations that include numerical, verbal and mechanical reasoning assessments, followed by interviews and stringent medical screening, with only a small fraction of applicants securing a place. Because the entrance exams reward familiarity with reasoning tests under time pressure, structured practice of aptitude and cognitive assessments beforehand can meaningfully improve a candidate's chances.
