Most operators screen with the same aptitude tests, so a general assessment course still covers the bulk of the selection.
EJ Escola de Aeronáutica is widely regarded as the largest flight school in Latin America, headquartered in Itápolis in the interior of São Paulo state, Brazil, and training pilots since 1999. Operating under Brazil's ANAC framework with a fleet of more than 60 aircraft spread across four bases, the school reports having trained over 10,000 pilots, and it has become the reference point for airline-focused training in the Brazilian market.
Training at EJ Escola de Aeronáutica
EJ takes students from the private pilot licence through to a commercial licence with instrument and multi-engine ratings, and its integrated route with the affiliated EJ-ESAC college pairs the full set of licences with a higher-education diploma in around two years. Training is delivered from Itápolis and satellite bases at Jundiaí, Americana and Campo Verde, with jet transition and upset-recovery courses layered on top, and its alumni fly professionally for carriers in Brazil and abroad — the school highlights one graduate who became the youngest Brazilian captain at American Airlines.
Entry to the integrated college programme runs through a formal selection process, with a limited number of places awarded via an entrance examination alongside the ANAC medical and theory requirements that apply to every licence stage. Competition for places at a school of this profile is real, and because Brazilian airline recruitment adds its own rounds of computer-based aptitude and psychometric testing after graduation, candidates who practise these assessments early give themselves an advantage at both hurdles.
