No ATP Flight School course yet
Most operators screen with the same aptitude tests, so a general assessment course still covers the bulk of the selection.
ATP Flight School is the largest flight training organisation in the United States, running 78 training centres across 32 states from its headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida, with new bases added in Boise, Greensboro and Pittsburgh in 2026. Its model is deliberately industrial: a fixed-price, fixed-timeline, full-time programme flown on a standardised fleet and syllabus at every location, designed to move a student from no experience to airline-ready in the shortest defensible time. It holds partnerships with 38 airlines, more than any other US school.
Training at ATP Flight School
The Airline Career Pilot Program is the core offering and it is priced up front rather than by the hour: roughly $124,000 on the nine-month zero-time track, about $101,000 for students entering with solo credit, and around $91,000 for those who already hold a private pilot certificate on a six-month track. Graduates typically instruct for ATP to build hours toward ATP-certificate minimums, and many partner airlines reimburse part or all of the tuition once a pilot commits to them. A newer Career Track Discovery Program offers 23 flight hours and the first four weeks of the main course for $4,995, aimed at people testing the career before committing to it.
Entry depends on meeting course prerequisites and financing rather than on passing a cadet aptitude battery, which is the essential difference between the American route and a European integrated ATPL. The screening comes at the other end, when graduates apply to the regional and major carriers whose pathway programmes ATP feeds — and those airlines run computer-based cognitive, personality and situational assessments as a matter of course. Building fluency with those formats during training, rather than in the weeks before an airline application, is what turns a fast route into a completed one.
