Most operators screen with the same aptitude tests, so a general assessment course still covers the bulk of the selection.

Airways Aviation Nordic is one of Finland's most established professional flight schools, based at Tampere-Pirkkala Airport and known for decades as Patria Pilot Training before its acquisition by the global Airways Aviation Group, agreed in December 2024 and completed in early 2025. Operating under EASA regulation with a modern fleet of more than 17 Diamond DA40 and DA42 aircraft, it combines a long Finnish training heritage with the reach of an international academy network.

Training at Airways Aviation Nordic

The school delivers theoretical and practical training from its Pirkkala campus, covering PPL, CPL, instrument and multi-engine ratings, instructor courses and UPRT on the way to a frozen ATPL. In its Patria era it delivered the basic training phase of Finnair's MPL cadet programme, a role that shaped its airline-focused culture and standards, and under Airways Aviation ownership its graduates now plug into the group's international network of airline relationships and career pathways.

Applicants face a structured selection process with computer-based aptitude and psychometric testing alongside interviews and medical requirements, reflecting the airline-grade screening the school inherited from its cadet-programme history. For candidates weighing up Finland's most competitive training places, arriving at that assessment with well-practised cognitive and coordination skills makes a measurable difference to both selection and the airline assessments that follow graduation.
