Prepare for AirAsia

Candidate accounts consistently point to Harrison Assessments at AirAsia's online cadet screening.

AirAsia publishes nothing about it, so treat it as the likely battery rather than a settled fact.

Reported for the cadet programme's online screening stages; later stages are a psychomotor and physics test, an interview and a Class 1 medical run by AirAsia itself.

No AirAsia-specific course yet

AirAsia's selection uses Harrison Assessments, which we do not train for specifically. The general aptitude course still covers the abilities it measures.

AirAsia is Asia's largest low-cost carrier group, headquartered at RedQ beside Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang, Malaysia. Built around an all-Airbus A320-family short-haul fleet, the group spans affiliate airlines across Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Cambodia, with long-haul flying under the AirAsia X brand. Repeatedly named the world's leading low-cost airline, it operates independently of the global alliances.

Flying for AirAsia

AirAsia recruits rated and experienced direct-entry A320 pilots across its affiliate carriers, and resumed its Cadet Pilot Programme after a pandemic-era hiatus. The ab-initio scheme is open to candidates across Southeast Asia, runs around 18 to 24 months and is self-funded at roughly MYR 250,000 with financing options, leading to guaranteed placement as a trainee First Officer within the group for cadets who complete training successfully.

Selection for both cadets and direct-entry pilots involves computer-based aptitude testing, simulator evaluation and competency-based interviews, with English proficiency assessed throughout. Aptitude stages are where most candidates fall short, and they are also the most trainable part of the process — sustained practice with pilot cognitive and aptitude assessments measurably improves performance.
