Most operators screen with the same aptitude tests, so a general assessment course still covers the bulk of the selection.

Air Serbia is the flag carrier of Serbia, operating from Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport with a fleet of Airbus A320-family and ATR 72 aircraft plus A330s on long-haul routes to New York and beyond. It has grown quickly as Belgrade has developed into a regional connecting hub for the Western Balkans.

Flying for Air Serbia

Air Serbia relaunched its cadet programme in 2024 in partnership with the Aviation Academy, signing contracts with ten trainees for the first academic year and continuing on a similar scale since. Intake is limited to roughly ten places a year, which makes it one of the smaller schemes in Europe by volume, and cadets get simulator training, mentorship from senior pilots and a route to employment on completion. The airline has historically also held open-day recruitment events where candidates present documents in person.

One detail matters for international applicants: Air Serbia does not require Serbian language skills for pilot positions — English is the working language on the flight deck — which makes it more accessible than most national carriers of its size. With roughly ten places against the applicant pool, the aptitude and psychometric stage is where the field is cut, and monitoring both the airline's careers page and the academy's announcements is necessary just to catch the window.
